Match preview: Adelaide v St Kilda

What it means for Adelaide: This is a must-win game for the under-siege Crows who have lost four of their past five, but still remain in the top eight on percentage.

What it means for St Kilda: The Saints are revitalised under interim coach Brett Ratten, winning their past two games since parting ways with Alan Richardson. Another victory would keep their unlikely finals dream alive.

The stat: The Crows have won nine in a row against the Saints since 2012, with an average margin of 53 points. Seven of those nine victories were by 40 or more points. The Saints have an abysmal Adelaide Oval record, losing all nine times they've played at the venue.

The match-up: Daniel Talia v Josh Bruce

Talia, the Crows' best key defender in the Official AFL Player Ratings (158th overall), will get the job on Bruce, the Saints' No.1 key forward (351st overall) who booted four goals in last week's win against Melbourne.

It’s a big week for: Don Pyke

The Crows coach has been under the pump in the wake of last weekend's loss to Carlton. After inviting the players over to his house, Pyke needs his team to stand up and produce a performance they're capable of to get their season back on track.

Big call: The Saints beat the Crows for the first time in eight years to throw the race for eighth spot wide open.

Prediction: Saints by eight points

Match preview: Melbourne v Richmond

What it means for Melbourne: With the pressure increasing on both Simon Goodwin and Melbourne's playing list, a top-four scalp would open the valve somewhat. It would also be only the Demons' third win in their past 11 games.

What it means for Richmond:  The Tigers' percentage took a battering at the start of the season but has slowly been on the improve. Saturday night could be a chance to boost it further.

The stat: Final term fade-outs have been a big issue for the Dees recently. Over its past four matches, Melbourne has conceded an average of 28.5 points in the final quarter, while managing an average of just 13.3 itself.

The match-up: Michael Hibberd v Dustin Martin

Hibberd held Martin to just 17 disposals the last time these sides met, the superstar Tiger's second-lowest tally for the year. The Dee, ranked 191 in the AFL Player Ratings, is versatile enough to take on Martin (11th overall) whether he's forward or in the middle.

It's a big week for: Simon Goodwin

After storming to a preliminary final last season, it's been a disastrous year for Goodwin and his Melbourne charges. The Dees have now dropped a game below Carlton in 17th place and are staring down the barrel of falling 13 places in 12 months.

Big call: Dylan Grimes is in red-hot form behind the ball and will finish with 12 intercepts.

Prediction: Tigers by 35 points.

Match preview: Greater Western Sydney v Sydney

What it means for GWS: After two courageous wins against Collingwood and Port Adelaide, the Giants must consolidate and maintain their form against the Swans to remain in the hunt for a top four finish.

What it means for Sydney: Finals are out of the equation, but the Swans have been extremely competitive in recent weeks. A high-intensity derby will be greatly beneficial to the young team.

The stat: The Giants' three tall forwards Jeremy Cameron (57), Jeremy Finlayson (34) and Harry Himmelberg (31) have 122 goals between them this season, and without their best key defender and co-captain Dane Rampe, the Swans could be in for a tough day.

The match-up: George Hewett v Lachie Whitfield

The underrated Hewett has had Whitfield's number before and is a chance to go to him again at Giants Stadium. The GWS star (No.63 in the ratings) is extremely damaging roaming all over the ground as a high half forward, but Hewett has the tank to run with him.

It’s a big week for: Tom Papley

The Swans' leading goalkicker was kept to just one goal from four possessions against Geelong last week, and if his side is any chance of causing an upset, the livewire small forward must have a big impact.

Big call: Kick kings Jake Lloyd and Heath Shaw will have a day out at Giants Stadium and finish the game with at least 50 between them.

Prediction: GWS by 38 points

Join With Us and Enjoy AFL Essendon Bombers vs Port Adelaide Power Live Stream.

Match preview: Essendon v Port Adelaide

What it means for Essendon: The Bombers have won five on the bounce and look destined for finals action. They escaped the Gold Coast with a 10-point win last week and could all but secure a top-eight place with victory.

What it means for Port Adelaide: This is the last-chance saloon for Ken Hinkley's side which must win to stay alive in the finals race. Port once again failed to deliver when it mattered last week – losing to GWS by one point. If Robbie Gray and co. can mastermind a victory, September will somehow remain within reach.

The stat: Port Adelaide does not hold the happiest of memories against Essendon at Marvel Stadium. The sides opened the Docklands ground back in March, 2000, with the Power suffering a 94-point thrashing. Their recent history isn't much better either, losing their past two by an average of 46 points at the venue.

The match-up: Scott Lycett v Zac Clarke.

Port's best chance of claiming a scalp rests on the broad shoulders of key ruck Scott Lycett. His counterpart Zac Clarke – ranked 36th in his position by the has improved slightly over recent weeks, but will face perhaps his toughest test to date this round. With Lycett likely to give Port first use, Essendon may find itself on the back foot.

It's a big week for: Travis Boak. The Power’s ex-captain has led by example all season, culminating in a 40-disposal effort last week. Boak has averaged 32.4 disposals per game this season, sitting only behind Collingwood’s Adam Treloar. The tough inside midfielder is also the Power’s leading clearance player and will need to continue in such a vein if their season is to stay alive.

Big call: Jake Stringer to continue his renaissance story with a season-best five goals, along with another dominant midfield cameo.

Prediction: Essendon by 34 points.
